Neighbours / from Motherland

Brigel Gjoka and 'RubberLegz' Yasit

Oct. 3-4 & 7, 2026

About

Neighbours unfolds as a mesmerizing and powerful collaboration, a dynamic fusion of creativity orchestrated by two extraordinary artists deeply entrenched in distinct artistic realms and cultural landscapes. Brigel GJOKA and ‘RubberLegz’ Yasit, embarked on a transformative journey inspired by their participation in William Forsythe’s A Quiet Evening of Dance. With leadership roles in their respective fields, they have seamlessly woven together a creation that not only showcases their diverse skills but also draws inspiration from their Kurdish and Albanian heritage.

This groundbreaking choreographic exploration takes audiences on an innovative journey, birthing a fresh and compelling artistic language. Within the intricate tapestry of their performance, moments of transformation and introspection unfold, skillfully navigating the crossroads of urban, classical, and contemporary dance. The collaborative synergy between Gjoka and RubberLegz transcends boundaries, creating a harmonious blend that mirrors the rich diversity of their cultural backgrounds.

Created in Albania, “Neighbours / From Motherland” is a new second chapter that brings together Albanian choreographer Gjoka and Kurdish choreographer RubberLegz with artists from both Albania and Kosovo. Rooted in questions of identity, heritage, and belonging, the performance draws on personal and collective memories to create a choreographic dialogue between cultures. Through the meeting of diverse artistic voices, the work reconnects with shared roots while celebrating dance as a living language of exchange and human connection.
